About Dr. Bhattacharyya
Dr. Aniruddha “Shubho” Bhattacharyya is a board-certified nephrologist whose clinical approach focuses on kidney disease as part of a patient’s broader health. He has a particular interest in Cardio-Kidney-Metabolic (CKM) syndrome and the interconnected roles of chronic kidney disease, hypertension, obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular risk. His interest in obesity medicine complements this approach, with an emphasis on addressing metabolic factors that contribute to kidney disease.
Dr. Bhattacharyya completed his Nephrology and Hypertension fellowship at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Maryland Midtown Campus. He has extensive experience managing chronic kidney disease, advanced hypertension, proteinuria and hematuria, immunosuppression following kidney transplantation, and dialysis therapies. He has a particular interest in peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialysis.
Dr. Bhattacharyya is also involved in clinical research and medical education. His background in biomedical engineering and research informs a practical, evidence-based approach to care. He believes in helping patients understand how kidney health connects with their overall cardiovascular and metabolic health, allowing treatment decisions to be made collaboratively with a focus on long-term wellbeing.
